MOUNT DESERT ISLAND REGION—The election results are in for Hancock County.
Here’s what we know this morning. The school reorganization plan has failed.
The first town in the area that had its votes in was Frenchboro where school reorganization passed 12-10. Next came Tremont where it did not (525 no to 361 yes). Most of the other towns followed Tremont’s lead, with Southwest Harbor, Mount Desert, and Bar Harbor voting against the reorganization. Trenton voted in favor.
Holly Eaton and Gary Friedmann and Nina Milliken are back in their house seats as is Senator Nicole Grohoski.
Every ordinance change in every town in the region passed as well.
In Hancock County races, Bob Granger has decidedly been voted back into the office of Hancock County District Attorney, Detective Corey Bagley has roughly a 3,000-vote lead and win over Lt. Dakota Dupois for the Hancock County Sheriff position, replacing Sheriff Scott Kane. Brian Thomas has defeated former District Attorney Matthew Foster for a position as Hancock County Judge of Probate, which had last been held by William Blaisdell, IV.
The results are below. As of press time, we do not have results from Cranberry Isles or Swans Island.
