It’s our round up of upcoming government meetings. All are public. That means you can go and be involved.

Every week we document the Mount Desert Island region’s government and school meetings that we know of. Please let us know if we’ve missed something.

Also, sometimes things on the town and school calendars are cancelled or rescheduled, so make sure to doublecheck before you head over!

This is especially true if no agenda has been posted. Sometimes agendas are posted later in the week and are not available at our Monday press time. And sometimes (because Southwest Harbor’s website has corruption issues) we can’t safely download an agenda.

Again, if there are no agendas posted for an event, please verify with the town that it is occurring. We don’t want you heading over for no reason, but we do want everyone to know that:

  1. They can head over.
  2. What’s going on in their town government or at school board meetings.

All meetings are open to the public. If there is an executive session, that part of the meeting is not open.

When things change and we know (agendas are uploaded, meetings are cancelled), we will do our best to update the article as well.

BAR HARBOR:

MOUNT DESERT:

Agenda for the Mount Desert School Department School Committee Meeting held on September 2, 2026, detailing items such as call to order, attendance, approval of minutes, public comments, reports, and future meeting dates.

The Comprehensive Planning Committee is on the town’s website’s calendar, but there is no agenda listed. Thursday, September 3, 2026, 5 p.m.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR:

We could not download the agenda for the Conservation Commission because it was corrupted. So sorry. Its meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 6 p.m.

Agenda for the Sustainability Committee meeting in Southwest Harbor, Maine, detailing items such as welcome and roll call, housing law discussions, and public event reviews.

SWAN’S ISLAND:

The Select Board meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 4 p.m. at the Town Office. 6 p.m. meetings will resume in the spring

TREMONT:

Agenda for the Tremont School Committee Meeting scheduled for September 1, 2026, including topics like approval of minutes, public comment, reports, discussion items, and future agenda items.

TRENTON:

Agenda for Board of Selectmen meeting on September 1, 2026, including items such as call to order, approval of agenda, and new business sections.
