It’s our round up of upcoming government meetings. All are public. That means you can go and be involved.

Every week we document the Mount Desert Island region’s government and school meetings that we know of. Please let us know if we’ve missed something.

Also, sometimes things on the town and school calendars are cancelled or rescheduled, so make sure to doublecheck before you head over!

This is especially true if no agenda has been posted. Sometimes agendas are posted later in the week and are not available at our Monday press time. And sometimes (because Southwest Harbor’s website has corruption issues) we can’t safely download an agenda.

Again, if there are no agendas posted for an event, please verify with the town that it is occurring. We don’t want you heading over for no reason, but we do want everyone to know that:

  1. They can head over.
  2. What’s going on in their town government or at school board meetings.

All meetings are open to the public. If there is an executive session, that part of the meeting is not open.

When things change and we know (agendas are uploaded, meetings are cancelled), we will do our best to update the article as well.

BAR HARBOR:

Agenda for the Sustainable Tourism Management Task Force Meeting in Bar Harbor, Maine, scheduled for October 14, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM, detailing the meeting topics and structure.

If a meeting is on the above calendar but no agenda is posted, that is because the agenda is not on the Bar Harbor website. The joint BH Town Council and MD Select Board meeting is only on Bar Harbor’s calendar and not Mount Desert’s. There is no online agenda for it on either website.

CRANBERRY ISLES:

Meeting notice for the Cranberry Isles Select Board, scheduled for October 14, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. Includes agenda items such as financial warrants and new business discussions.

FRENCHBORO:

Agenda for the Select Board Meeting for the Town of Frenchboro, scheduled for October 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM, outlining approval of minutes, new business, and old business discussions.

MOUNT DESERT:

Harbor Committee agenda for October 14, 2025, detailing meeting location at Northeast Harbor, agenda items, and Zoom meeting information.
Notice for the Town of Mount Desert Planning Board meeting, including meeting details, agenda items, and conditional use approval applications for various projects.
A notice for a scheduled Zoom meeting hosted by the Town of Mount Desert, including details about the date, time, and how to join the meeting via web link or phone. It lists the meeting ID and password as well as dial-in numbers for various U.S. locations.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR:

A meeting agenda for the Select Board of Southwest Harbor, detailing items such as call to order, roll call, approval of minutes, public hearing, and regular business items including discussions on local governance and community matters.

SWAN’S ISLAND:

The Select Board meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 4 p.m. at the Town Office. 6 p.m. meetings will resume in the spring

TREMONT:

Planning Board agenda for Tremont, Maine, detailing meeting on October 13, 2026, including call to order, roll call, adoption of agenda, minutes from September 15, 2026, new business regarding a property application, and scheduling the next meeting.

TRENTON:

Agenda for the Board of Selectmen meeting on October 13, 2026, at 7:00 P.M., listing items for discussion including public hearings, appointments, and approvals.

No meetings online.
