It’s our round up of upcoming government meetings. All are public. That means you can go and be involved.

Every week we document the Mount Desert Island region’s government and school meetings that we know of. Please let us know if we’ve missed something.

Also, sometimes things on the town and school calendars are cancelled or rescheduled, so make sure to doublecheck before you head over!

This is especially true if no agenda has been posted. Sometimes agendas are posted later in the week and are not available at our Monday press time. And sometimes (because Southwest Harbor’s website has corruption issues) we can’t safely download an agenda.

Again, if there are no agendas posted for an event, please verify with the town that it is occurring. We don’t want you heading over for no reason, but we do want everyone to know that:

  1. They can head over.
  2. What’s going on in their town government or at school board meetings.

All meetings are open to the public. If there is an executive session, that part of the meeting is not open.

When things change and we know (agendas are uploaded, meetings are cancelled), we will do our best to update the article as well.

BAR HARBOR:

Meeting notice for Bar Harbor Town Council Goal Setting Workshop on September 21 at 5:30 PM at Machias Savings Bank Meeting Room.

CRANBERRY ISLES:

Agenda for the Town Manager Transition Committee meeting in Cranberry Isles, Maine, scheduled for September 22nd at 4:30 PM, including Zoom meeting details, agenda items, and committee members.

FRENCHBORO:

Agenda for the Select Board Meeting of the Town of Frenchboro, scheduled for September 21, 2026, at 5:00 pm, detailing items including approval of minutes, warrant approval, old and new business.
Agenda for the Frenchboro School Committee Meeting on September 22, 2026, including call to order, approval of voucher and minutes, public comment, reports and updates, discussion items, action items, other business, next meeting date, and adjournment.

MOUNT DESERT:

Agenda for the Town of Mount Desert Selectboard regular meeting on September 21, 2026, detailing the meeting logistics, call to order, minutes approval, and items for discussion.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR:

Agenda for the Select Board meeting in Southwest Harbor, scheduled for September 22, 2026, detailing call to order, roll call, public hearings, approvals, and regular business items.
Agenda for Southwest Harbor Select Board meeting on September 22, 2026, outlining topics such as rental updates, community resilience grant acceptance, and upcoming meeting details.

The Select Board meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 4 p.m. at the Town Office. 6 p.m. meetings will resume in the spring
