It’s our round up of upcoming government meetings. All are public. That means you can go and be involved.

Every week we document the Mount Desert Island region’s government and school meetings that we know of. Please let us know if we’ve missed something.

Also, sometimes things on the town and school calendars are cancelled or rescheduled, so make sure to doublecheck before you head over!

This is especially true if no agenda has been posted. Sometimes agendas are posted later in the week and are not available at our Monday press time. And sometimes (because Southwest Harbor’s website has corruption issues) we can’t safely download an agenda.

Again, if there are no agendas posted for an event, please verify with the town that it is occurring. We don’t want you heading over for no reason, but we do want everyone to know that:

  1. They can head over.
  2. What’s going on in their town government or at school board meetings.

All meetings are open to the public. If there is an executive session, that part of the meeting is not open.

When things change and we know (agendas are uploaded, meetings are cancelled), we will do our best to update the article as well.

A schedule for local government and school meetings, including dates, times, and specific boards or committees involved.

BAR HARBOR:

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

According to Bar Harbor’s website, “Meetings that are broadcast live can be viewed at home by watching Cable Access Channel 7 or 1303 (Spectrum Cable only) and online at Town Hall Streams.”

Agenda for Warrant Committee Meeting scheduled for August 10, 2026, including call to order, introduction of town staff, presentations on land use ordinance amendments, public comment period, closing remarks, and adjournment.
Agenda for the Sustainable Tourism Management Task Force Meeting, Bar Harbor, Maine, including meeting details, topics for discussion, and timings.
Agenda for the Design Review Board in Bar Harbor, Maine, scheduled for August 13, 2026, outlining the order of business including elections, public comments, building permit reminders, and regular business items.

CRANBERRY ISLES:

SOUTHWEST HARBOR:

SWAN’S ISLAND:

The Select Board meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 4 p.m. at the Town Office. 6 p.m. meetings will resume in the spring.

TREMONT:

None online.

TRENTON:

Agenda for the Planning Board meeting in Trenton, Maine, scheduled for August 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Includes call to order, acceptance of agenda, approval of previous minutes, new business listings, public meeting discussion on short-term rentals, and adjournment.

HANCOCK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:

No meetings listed online.

MDI HIGH SCHOOL AND AOS MEETINGS:

Agenda for the regular school board meeting at Mount Desert Island Regional High School on August 10, 2026, listing various discussion items, approvals, and updates.
Agenda for the Mount Desert Island Regional School System Board Meeting on August 10, 2026, including topics such as attendance, approval of vouchers, public comments, and policy discussions.
