Police updates for Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Tremont, State Police and Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

BAR HARBOR—On October 1, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., an Acadia National Park Ranger reported to the Bar Harbor Police Department that a black Mercedes sedan, which was heading east on Eagle Lake Road in Bar Harbor, was being driven recklessly and at a high rate of speed.
According to the weekly Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Department’s press release, while the ranger was still communicating with the Bar Harbor police, the driver lost control of the vehicle which went off the road to the left. The vehicle went down an embankment and rolled over onto its roof.

The reporting ranger made contact with the driver, Ryan Gerard, no age given, of Bar Harbor.
Bar Harbor Police and Fire Departments arrived on scene and after Gerard was checked by medical personnel and an investigation into whether Gerard had been drinking ensued.
Gerard was arrested by Officer Justin Burnett for operating under the influence and additionally charged with violation of conditions of release and driving to endanger. Gerard was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Gerard had received minor injuries due to the crash and the Mercedes was totaled.
BAR HARBOR AND MOUNT DESERT POLICE LOGS

The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor and Mount Desert last week according to the Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Department police logs, which is publicly released information.
Tuesday, September 30, 2025
Sgt. Chris Dickens assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department on a medical call in Bar Harbor.
After receiving a complaint of dogs that were left in a vehicle in Bar Harbor with the windows up, Officer Amie Torrey issued William G. Carlisle, 67, of Arkansas, a summons for failure to provide proper shelter/protection from the weather.
A Bar Harbor hotel requested a well-being check on a woman, but officers could not locate her.
Sgt. Dickens responded to a report of a deceased deer in the travel lane of Route 3 in Bar Harbor, but the deer had been removed from the roadway by the time he arrived.
After receiving a report of a manhole cover that was out of place on Main Street in Bar Harbor, Officer Nathan Formby checked the area but could not find any covers that were out of place.
Officer Formby issued a parking citation to a vehicle that was causing a parking issue in Bar Harbor.

After a Bar Harbor business requested that someone be issued a trespass warning for the business property, Officer Formby issued that warning to the offending person.
Wednesday, October 1, 2025
Officer Liam Harrington took a report of a parking problem in Northeast Harbor.
Officer Ted Cake assisted the Mount Desert Fire Department on a medical call in Mount Desert.
Before Sgt. Jerrod Hardy could respond to a requested well-being check in Bar Harbor, the requesting person had made contact with the person that they were concerned about.
Sgt. Hardy responded to a complaint in Bar Harbor about a vehicle parked on the neighboring property. The vehicle’s headlights were reportedly shining into the complainant’s house. Sgt. Hardy found that the man in the truck had permission to be on the property that he was on and was listening to the Boston Red Sox game. The man turned his headlights off.
Thursday, October 2, 2025
Following a 911 call and subsequent investigation in Mount Desert, Officer Burnett arrested Lorie King, 43, of North Carolina, for operating under the influence.
Sgt. Dickens and Officer Zack Kline responded to a report of a man trespassing at a West Street business. The man was located, warned, and moved along.
Following a report of a missing juvenile in Mount Desert, Sgt. Soren Sundberg and other officers and agencies searched for the juvenile who was eventually located and reunited with his family.
Officer Harrington performed a vehicle identification number verification in Bar Harbor.
Officer Harrington received information from someone in Bar Harbor.
Sgt. Dickens advised a Bar Harbor property owner about Maine’s trespass laws.
Sgt. Dickens spoke with a Mount Desert resident about some security concerns that the property owner had.
Sgt. Dickens and Officer Burnett assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department with a report of a fire at a Cottage Street business in Bar Harbor.
Friday, October 3, 2025
Sgt. Dickens responded to a report of someone being loud at the Village Green in Bar Harbor, located the person, advised them of the complaint, and directed them to stop being loud.
Officer Caleb Mora arrested Susan Mills, 49, of Bangor, in Bar Harbor for theft. Mills was additionally summoned for refusing to submit to arrest, disorderly conduct, and violation of conditions of release. Mills was later released for medical treatment.
Someone reported that they thought they saw an injured whale off the coast in Bar Harbor. The person was referred to Allied Whale.
Officer Torrey received a report of suspicious activity at night at a Mount Desert school.
Someone reported an erratic driver in Bar Harbor, but no officers were in a position to intercept the vehicle.
Officer Troy Stanwood took a report of damage to a vehicle on private property in Bar Harbor.
A Maine Game Warden advised Sgt. Dickens that he had issued someone a warning for operating a dirt bike on a public way, Hadley Point Road, in Bar Harbor.
At the Bar Harbor Police Department, Officer Stanwood fingerprinted a lifetime sex offender registrant.
After receiving a 911 call about a noise complaint in Mount Desert, Officer Judson Cake contacted the noise maker who was cleaning his kitchen and advised him of the complaint.
After locating a vehicle in Bar Harbor that was the subject of a “be on the lookout for” at the request of the Maine State Police, Alexander Delgado, 39, of Verona Island, was summoned by Officer Formby for operating without a license and violation of conditions of release.
Sgt. Dickens assisted a motorist in Bar Harbor whose vehicle had a flat tire.
Saturday, October 4, 2025
Officer J. Cake removed a dead coyote from the roadway in Bar Harbor.
Officer Stanwood took a report of a day-old property damage accident that occurred in Bar Harbor.
Officer Torrey took a report of an accident in Mount Desert and referred it to Acadia National Park where it actually occurred.
Officer Stanwood dispatched an injured deer in Mount Desert.
Officer Torrey performed a requested well-being check on someone in Mount Desert. She did not make contact with the person to be checked on, but his family said that he was fine.
Following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, Officer Stanwood summoned Miles Sudlow, 27, of Bar Harbor, for operating after suspension and issued him a traffic summons for unnecessary acceleration.
Someone reported suspicious activity in Bar Harbor.
Someone made a parking complaint in Bar Harbor.
Officer J. Cake arrested Marco Sbalchiero, 37, of Boston, Massachusetts, in Mount Desert for operating under the influence.
Sunday, October 5, 2025
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious situation in Bar Harbor and determined that it was a misunderstanding.
Following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, Officer Lukas Keene arrested John Kropf, 29, of Florida, for operating under the influence. Kropf was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Officer Formby issued warnings to two different violators of Bar Harbor’s municipal ordinances.
Officer Mora took a delayed motor vehicle complaint in Bar Harbor, but the complainant did not give a direction of travel of the vehicle.
Officer Mora responded to a barking dog complaint in Bar Harbor and found it to be unsubstantiated.
Sgt. Sundberg spoke with several people in Mount Desert about a civil issue.
After receiving a complaint about erratic motor vehicle operation in Bar Harbor, Officer Stanwood was able to locate the vehicle, stop the vehicle, and warn the driver for their poor operation of the vehicle.
Officer Mora gave a man a ride home to Otter Creek from Bar Harbor.
Officer Mora summoned J’amie Ward, 53, of Bar Harbor, for operating without a license in Bar Harbor. Ward was warned for other traffic infractions.
Officer Mora fingerprinted a woman at the Bar Harbor Police Department for citizenship purposes.
Officer Mora responded to a report of possibly distressed dogs in a vehicle in Bar Harbor, but the vehicle was gone when he arrived.
Officer Mora attempted to perform a bail conditions compliance check on someone in Bar Harbor but the person was not located.
After receiving a report of an abandoned dog in Bar Harbor, Officer Mora failed to locate the dog.
Officer Stanwood spoke with someone in Bar Harbor about ongoing issues and discussed the parameters of protection orders.
Monday, October 6, 2025
Following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, Officer Fromby seized a firearm. Charges are pending a Hancock County District Attorney’s Office review of the circumstances.
Officer Formby issued warnings to two different violators of Bar Harbor’s municipal ordinances.
Sgt. Doug Brundrett had an abandoned vehicle towed from the Newport Drive parking lot in Bar Harbor.
After receiving a report of two dogs in a vehicle on West Street in Bar Harbor, Sgt. Brundrett determined that the dogs were not in distress.
The Bar Harbor Police Department took a delayed report of a Bar Harbor resident operating a motor vehicle on a suspended driver’s license.
Someone in Mount Desert reported to Officer Harrington that they were being harassed.
Tuesday, October 7, 2025
Following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, Officer Kline arrested Ellen Stewart, 30, of O’Fallon, Missouri, for operating under the influence. Stewart was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Hall Quarry and as a result of the investigation, Alissa LaChance, 27, of Deering, New Hampshire, was arrested for domestic violence assault. LaChance was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
SOUTHWEST HARBOR AND TREMONT

The following incidents occurred in Southwest Harbor or Tremont last week according to the Southwest Harbor Police Department police log, which is publicly released information.
Monday, September 29, 2025
Officer Bradley Russell arrested Taylor Sanborn, 33, unhoused, on an active arrest warrant for failure to appear after Sanborn walked into the Southwest Harbor police station and turned himself in. Sanborn was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Sgt. Ryan Blakeney responded to Tremont for a trespassing complaint and issued someone a no trespass warning for the complainant’s property.
Officer Russell received a complaint from a Southwest Harbor resident about an improperly parked vehicle in Southwest Harbor. After speaking with both the complainant and the vehicle owner, Officer Russell was able to resolve the issue.
Officer Russell received a complaint regarding a suspicious vehicle at a Southwest Harbor business but was unable to locate the vehicle when he responded.
Tuesday, September 30, 2025
Officer Rick Graham found the owner of an illegally parked vehicle in Southwest Harbor and had them move the vehicle after he received a complaint about the vehicle from a Southwest Harbor resident.
Officer Graham responded with the ambulance service to a medical call in Southwest Harbor but his services were not needed.
Officer Graham assisted a Southwest Harbor resident with getting back into their residence after they had locked themselves out.
Wednesday, October 1, 2025
At the request of MDI Hospital, Officer Graham performed a well-being check on a hospital employee in Southwest Harbor and found them to be all set.
After receiving a request from a Tremont resident in regard to identifying a strange noise in her residence, Officer Graham located a smoke detector that was emitting a low battery alarm.
Officer Graham received a report of a deer that had been hit by a vehicle in Tremont. The caller euthanized the deer and a Southwest Harbor resident took the deer for personal use.
Sgt. Blakeney documented some information for someone in Tremont at their request.

Officer Kristen Roulet received a report of an unattended death at a Southwest Harbor residence.
After receiving a report of a dead deer in the harbor in Southwest Harbor, Officer James Kamorski contacted the Maine Warden Service who is investigating.
Officer Kamorski responded to a parking complaint in Southwest Harbor and was able to get the owner to move their vehicle.

Officer Kamorski responded with the ambulance service to a medical call in Southwest Harbor.
Officer Russell received a complaint regarding ongoing trespassing and harassment in Southwest Harbor, responded, spoke with the individuals involved, and was able to come up with a resolution.
Officer Russell responded to a parking complaint in Southwest Harbor, but the offending vehicle was gone when he arrived.
After receiving a suspicious activity complaint from someone in Southwest Harbor, Officer Russell responded and failed to find anything suspicious in the area.
Saturday, October 4, 2025
Officer Graham responded to a medical call in Southwest Harbor with the ambulance service and helping with lifting the patient and carrying equipment.
After receiving a 911 call about a disturbance in Southwest Harbor, Officer Graham responded and found it to be an argument between a juvenile and their mother. Officer Graham was able to calm everyone down and they “remained peaceful.”
Officer Graham received a complaint about a vehicle speeding up and down the road in Tremont and responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Officer Graham received a request for assistance from a visitor in Southwest Harbor who had accidentally locked themselves out of their rented room and were stuck on the balcony. The property’s caretaker responded to let the guest back in to their room.

Officer Graham responded to the death of an elderly man in Southwest Harbor.
Officer Graham responded to Tremont for a report of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner but failed to locate the vehicle. A few hours later, the complainant called back making the same report about the same vehicle. This time, Officer Graham was able to locate the vehicle and warned the driver for their operation.
Officer Graham responded to a complaint of a vehicle parked in the road on Main Street in Southwest Harbor, but the vehicle was gone by the time he arrived.
Officer Kamorski responded to an “animal issue” in Southwest Harbor and resolved the issue.
Officer Kamorski responded to Tremont for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near the complainant’s residence and was able to resolve the issue.
Officer Kamorski assisted a Southwest Harbor resident with getting back in their residence after they had locked themselves out.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Arrests Lewiston Woman Charging Four Count of Class A Aggravated Drug Trafficking

LEWISTON—Over the past several months Maine Drug Enforcement Agents from the Western District Task Force began an investigation into illegal drug trafficking conducted by Samantha Ogwudiegwu, 21, of Lewiston. This included undercover purchases of fentanyl from Ogwudiegwu.
In late September, Ogwudiegwu was arrested at her place of employment on Howe Street in Lewiston on four counts of aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs, class A.
After obtaining a search warrant for her residence, agents, with the assistance of the Lewiston Police Department, executed the search warrant on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. At Ogwudiegwu’s residence on Granite Street, agents seized 167 grams of cocaine, 7.9 grams fentanyl, 1100 30mg Oxycodone pills, 60 Xanax pills, 30 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 2 handguns, and an AR 15.
Ogwudiegwu is awaiting an initial appearance in Androscoggin County Unified Court, after having her bail set at $12,500. Additional charges may be brought.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Assisting MDEA in this investigation were representatives from the Lewiston Police Department.
The MDEA stands committed to working with all federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners in order to continue to identify and disrupt drug trafficking organizations that are attempting to distribute illicit drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine in the State of Maine.

Fire Marshal’s Office Investigators Determine Cause of Boothbay Harbor Fire

BOOTHBAY—Fire investigators from the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a structure fire at 79 Western Avenue in Boothbay Harbor early Saturday morning, October 4, 2025. The fire was reported to 911 shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Fire crews from Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Boothbay, and Edgecomb Fire Departments quickly responded and were able to bring the fire under control.
Following an on-scene investigation, officials determined the fire was electrical in nature and originated from the back side of the residence. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Commercial Structure Fire Under Investigation in Biddeford

BIDDEFORD—The Fire Marshal’s Office was on scene investigating a structure fire that occurred at 540 Elm Street in Biddeford at approximately 7:46 a.m., on Monday, October 6, 2025. The property, identified as Kennebunkport Marina boat storage, sustained damage after a fire began in one of the stored boats.
The initial fire spread, damaging several other boats and causing structural damage to the facility. Investigators have confirmed that the fire is not considered suspicious.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is being assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Biddeford Fire Department as the investigation continues.
Human Remains Located in Clinton
CLINTON—On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Maine State Police, assisting the Clinton Police Department with a missing person investigation, discovered human remains in a field off Route 100 in Clinton.
The remains have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death. The investigation is ongoing, and no other information is being released at this time.
