BAR HARBOR—With four seats up for grabs on the Bar Harbor Town Council only three candidates, incumbents Earl Brechlin and Randy Sprague, and candidate Nina St.Germain have taken out nomination papers as of 2:50 p.m., today, April 1. Of those two, only Brechlin has turned in his nomination papers.

The MDI High School Board of Trustees, which has two open seats, has garnered no candidates as of yet.


Below is the list of potential candidates who have taken out papers.

Town Council

Two seats – three-year term

  • Earl Brechlin (incumbent) – three-year term – papers turned in

One seat – two-year term

  • Randy Sprague (incumbent) – two-year term – papers taken out

One seat one-year term

  • Nina St.Germain – one-year term – papers taken out

Warrant Committee

Five seats for three-year terms

  • Louise Lopez (incumbent) – three-year term – papers turned in
  • Robert Chaplin (incumbent) – three-year term – papers turned in
  • Eben Salvatore (incumbent) – three-year term – papers turned in
  • Vicky Smith (incumbent) – three-year term – papers turned in
  • Jeff Young (incumbent) – three-year term – papers taken out
  • Tammy Bloom – three-year term – papers taken out
  • Jeremiah Graham – three-year term – papers taken out

One seat for two-year term

  • Micheal Good – two-year term – papers turned in

Conners Emerson School Committee

Two seats for three-year terms

  • Tyson Starling (incumbent) – three-year term – papers turned in
  • Tracey Neel – three-year term – papers taken out
  • Carlyle Paul – three-year term – papers taken out

MDI High School Board of Trustees

One seat for three-year term

  • No candidate has taken out papers as of the publishing of this article

One seat for one-year term

  • No candidate has taken out papers as of the publishing of this article

Current seat holders who have not yet taken out papers for reelection

Town Council

  • Matthew Hochman, term expires 2025 – three-year term
  • Meagan Kelly (Interim until June 2025), term expires 2026 – one-year term

Warrant Committee

  • Julie Berberian, term expires 2025 – chose not to run again

Conners Emerson School Committee

  • Alexandra Simis, term expires 2025 – chose not to run again

MDI High School Board of Trustees

  • Larry Sweet, term expires 2025 – three-year term

Nomination papers are available at the town clerk’s office, 93 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor.

Deadline for filing nomination papers is Friday, April 11, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

The residents of Bar Harbor will vote for these elected officials at their annual municipal election on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the town office, 93 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor.
