Every week we document Bar Harbor, MDI, and Trenton town government, school, and other similar meetings that we know of. Please let us know if we’ve missed something. Also, sometimes things are on the town calendars and are cancelled or rescheduled, so make sure to double check before you head over!

This week, we’ve decided to separate this story from the events and activities going on in town because it was too long for many people’s email servers. We prefer to not hang out in spam folders when we’ve worked really hard. So, the events and things to do will be a separate story on Mondays. This will usually come out Sundays.

We’ve separated the meetings and agendas by towns and then school meetings and we’ll we be doing a quick summary of potential highlights for instance . . .

. . . THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR THIS WEEK

This week in Tremont, voters head to the polls and to town meeting.

This week in Bar Harbor, Charles Sidman’s appeal of a Town Council ruling heads to the Appeals Board and there will be an information session on several land use ordinances, discussion about the Northeast Creek Watershed and Higgins Pit solar array project. In Southwest Harbor and Mount Desert, select board meetings dominate the week. At various school meetings, they’ll be hearing principal reports, authorizing the superintendent to expend federal and state funds, and going over a copier lease agreement.

And also? There’s a Bar Harbor Town Council candidate debate on May 15.

BAR HARBOR GOVERNMENT MEETINGS!

All the meetings take place at the Bar Harbor Municipal Building at 93 Cottage Street unless otherwise noted. And they usually have a time for public comments. This is not true about executive sessions, which are closed to the public.

So, go! Be informed! Be part of the process. You deserve to be.

According to Bar Harbor’s website, “Meetings that are broadcast live can be viewed at home by watching Cable Access Channel 7 or 1303 (Spectrum Cable only) and online at Town Hall Streams.”

ATHLETIC FACILITIES PLANNING MEETING!

MDI Athletic Department is looking to upgrade the Athletic Facilities on the stadium & baseball fields. The track is due for a significant renovation within the next two years, and the baseball field needs to be relocated from its current position to another location in the same area due to safety concerns.

If there were a time to add turf fields, different colors to the track, lights, etc., this would be the time to start. Other items could also be added, and if you would like to be involved in the planning, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, May 15, in the library beginning at 6:30 for anyone interested.

Wednesday, May 15

Time 6:30

Location: MDI HS Library

UPDATE AND CORRECTION: This was updated to include the Bar Harbor Special Town Council meeting and fix errors with the Mount Desert schedule.
